چکیده
Emerging Infectious Diseases • www.cdc.gov/eid • Vol. 11, No. 11, November 2005 1803 Physicians should be alert for relapsing fever in travelers, and this diagnosis should be considered in febrile patients from disease-endemic regions. Diagnosis relies upon examination of stained blood smears. Where available, molecular methods are highly efficient to detect and identify bacterial species. Other tickborne infections (e.g., those with Rickettsia spp.) should also be considered in patients returning from diseaseendemic countries (8). The recommended treatment is doxycycline, although it can cause a JarishHerxheimer reaction in some patients.

It was first tested with a fluorescein-conjugated antibody for Neisseria gonorrhoeae; results were negative. A RapID NH panel (Remel, Lenexa, KS, USA) was performed that identified the isolate as M. osloensis with a 99.7% probability. Ideally, the iso...
متن کاملNeonatal Early Onset Sepsis Due to Moraxella Osloensis: Casereport and Revision of the Literature
We report the first case of early-onset systemic neonatal infection associated with Moraxella osloensis bacteriemia in a full term baby. The genus Moraxella is constituted by a group of pleomorphic bacteria obligate aerobes, Gram-negative, oxidase positive and indole negative infrequently isolated from clinical specimens. The organism is rarely reported in the literature as the causative agent ...
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequences of Three Moraxella osloensis Strains Isolated from Human Skin
Here, we present the complete whole-genome sequences of three Moraxella osloensis strains with octylphenol polyethoxylate-degrading abilities. These strains were isolated from human skin.
متن کاملThree Cases of Moraxella osloensis Meningitis: A Difficult Experience in Species Identification and Determination of Clinical Significance
We had three cases of Moraxella osloensis meningitis. The species identification was impossible by conventional and commercial phenotypic tests. However, we could identify the species using the 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Determination of clinical significance was difficult in one patient. All three patients recovered by appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequence of Moraxella osloensis Strain KMC41, a Producer of 4-Methyl-3-Hexenoic Acid, a Major Malodor Compound in Laundry
We report the complete genome sequence of Moraxella osloensis strain KMC41, isolated from laundry with malodor. The KMC41 genome comprises a 2,445,556-bp chromosome and three plasmids. A fatty acid desaturase and at least four β-oxidation-related genes putatively associated with 4-methyl-3-hexenoic acid generation were detected in the KMC41 chromosome.
